Muscle Strain FeaturedWritten by Dr. Sarantos Saturday, 08 February 2014 19:24
What is a low back strain?
The bones of your spine are anchored to each other and surrounding structures by a number of muscles and tendons. It is this relationship that supports the vertebral column as well as providing normal range of motion to the area. If a muscle or tendon is stretched too far, it can become strained which results in tears in the tissue. This damage of the muscle can result in substantial pain and may weaken the muscle, making it less stable. If the tissue does not heal properly or the muscle imbalances are not corrected, you may be at risk for future episodes of low back pain.
